Calculator Use
Graphing, scientificand multi-function computers are acceptable or available for certain tests. (r) tests. Unless it is specifically specified that a calculator will be permitted for a particular test and test, calculators are not permitted to be utilized.
Test takers aren't permitted to use calculators in a shared manner.
Tests That Do Not Permit Use of a Calculator
In generally, unless explicitly stated that a certain type of calculator is allowed or required for a particular exam, calculators can't be used in the Praxis test.
Tests That Permit the Use of a Calculator
You may utilize a four-function or scientific calculator for taking the Middle School: Content Knowledge (5146) test, but you are not required to use one. You'll need to bring your own calculator to the testing centre. It is not allowed during the examination center. A graphing calculator is not permitted during this test.
Types of CalculatorsThat Are Not Permitted
The following are not permitted in Praxis test:
- Portable/handheld computers or laptops
- Electronic pads for writing
- Models with pen-input/stylus/touch-screen capability
- Calculators are available on all phones or watches as well as other electronic devices
- Models featuring QWERTY as well as other alphabetic keypads in hardware or software
- Models that print
- Models that create noise or "talk"
- Modells which require an electrical outlet
- Models that can access the internet, or have the capability of wireless connectivity or Bluetooth (r) capability
- Models that have a camera and scanner capability, or the ability to record or play digital audio/video
In addition, the usage of any hardware peripherals is prohibited.
Tests That Provide an On-screen Calculator
Calculators that are supplied by test takers will not be allowed to be used for Praxis tests which have calculators on screen.
On-Screen Scientific Calculator
These Praxis tests feature an on-screen scientific calculator. The tests employ the TI-30XS MultiView(tm) calculator. A tutorial is available so you can practice using the calculator on screen prior to your test day.
