Calculators aren't available at the test center and you aren't able to use a calculator.

Quick Facts

  • Only the calculators on this page are accepted for the Math Test--Calculator section of the test.
  • It is not permitted to make use of the calculator when working on your Reading, Writing and Language or Math Test--No Calculator sections, and you must remove the calculator away during these portions during the exam.
  • You'll be disqualified and your score canceled If you use your calculator to communicate details during the test or to take test questions or the answers from the testing room.

Calculator Smarts

  • Bring your personal calculator. It's not possible to share one.
  • Don't bring a brand new calculator. Bring one that you are familiar with. Prepare for the test with the same calculator you'll be using on the day of your test.
  • It's important to note that the Math Test includes some questions in which it's best not to make use of the calculator even though you are allowed to.
  • It might be helpful to complete scratch work from the test book. Write down your thoughts before making use of your calculator.
  • Check that your calculator is in good condition and the batteries are in good condition. The test center does not have extra calculators or batteries. If your calculator is damaged during the test and you don't have a backup then you'll need to take the test without it.

Acceptable Calculators

If you own an calculator with characters that are at least one inch tall or if your calculator features a display that is raised which could be visible to others taking the test, you'll be allowed to sit at the discretion by the coordinator of tests.

Only handheld devices powered by batteries is allowed for testing. Power cords are not permitted.

Calculators allowed during testing include:

Unacceptable Calculators

You cannot make use of any of the following items as calculators: calculator:

  • Laptops and other computers, mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches or wearable technology
  • Models that are able to connect to the Internet are equipped with wireless, Bluetooth and cellular connectivity, audio/video recording and playback, camera, or any other features that are similar to smartphones.
  • Models with a computer-style (QWERTY) keypad pen input, pen input, or stylus
  • Models that make use of electrical outlets, emit sound or use a paper tape
  • Additionally, the use of hardware peripherals , such as stylus devices that are compatible with an approved calculator is not allowed. Certain models that have touchscreen capabilities are not allowed (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
